Grant: LMARS 146.805 MHz repeater upgrade and relocation to new state of the art regional hospital
Date: August 2025
Amount: $9,179
The Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society (LMARS) supports emergency communications, education, and outreach in central Florida. The club is active with ARES, RACES, and SkyWarn, runs licensing classes and STEM programs in local schools, and has organized student contacts with the International Space Station. It also trains operators through nightly traffic nets, weekly practice sessions, and mentoring for new hams.
This project will upgrade and relocate LMARS’s 2 meter repeater to the new Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital. The former site lost its antenna tower in 2022. The new system will provide both analog FM and DMR, improving communication between hospitals and ensuring stronger support during hurricanes and other emergencies.
