Grant: Hamlib stability enhancements and SDR transceiver support
Date: August 2025
Amount: $94,724
The Amateur Radio Club Hämeenlinnan Radioamatöörit ry (OH3AA), founded in 1955 in Hämeenlinna, Finland, is one of the country’s oldest amateur radio clubs and a long-standing member of the Finnish Amateur Radio League.
With ARDC’s support, this project will modernize Hamlib, the open-source software library that provides computer control for amateur radio transceivers, rotators, and amplifiers. Hamlib is widely used in applications such as WSJT-X and fldigi, but it lacks automated testing tools and support for modern network-controlled and software-defined radios. The project will create a structured testing framework to improve release quality and add compatibility for Icom, FlexRadio, and SunSDR devices. The results will strengthen Hamlib’s stability and ensure it remains a reliable resource for amateur radio operators worldwide.
